There is HD-DVD, supported by Microsoft and Toshiba, and Blu-Ray, supported by Sony and Disney, among others. But I want to be the first to introduce (and support) the newest format: AD-DVD. What is AD-DVD? Simply, it's video for those who can't pay attention. All of the best scenes are compressed, sped up by a factor of two, and then played continuously for five minutes. In this fashion, people get the plot of the movie, and some of the funniest scenes, in chipmunk voices, and they aren't wasting time. For example, the 300 version: the "This is Sparta!" scene, followed up by, "Tonight, we dine, in Hell!", repeated. The audio and video quality is the same as a standard DVD, and can be created using the same means as a DVD. The upside is that it is cheaper. The first retailer for this new format will be exclusively sold at the upcoming YouTube store.

Music Libary

I love completing my music library. In fact, I am downright neurotic about it. Every single song needs to be filled out EXACTLY. I think I am somewhat obsessive-compulsive about it. So yesterday, I start using Cover Flow in iTunes. So I was inspired. For the next three hours (or so), I found album art for every single one of my songs. So I do that, and then I get inspired. I see all of this music, by all of these artists, and I say to myself, "All these great songs, and I listen to a small few of them!" So now I am really enjoying the variety I have in my library. I go from the poppy nerdcore "Fett's Vette" by MC Chris to the dark, evil "Davy Jones" by Hans Zimmer. And after that, I hit a remix of Panic! At the Disco's "The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage" (that is why I hate P!AtD) off the Snakes on a Plane Soundtrack. It just is so fun rediscovering all of my music.

Deaths at Disney

Now, there have been at least three (3) deaths at Disney World in the last year. Two died after riding Mission: SPACE, and one died after riding Rock n' Roller Coaster. Now, look at me here. People have said that those rides aren't safe. Completely untrue. The problem isn't the ride, it is the riders. Everyone who has died has some problem. At any given time, there are at least five (5) different warnings on Mission: SPACE telling you NOT to go on the ride if there is anything (anything) wrong with you. See, it's all just a matter of, Disney is so popular, there are bound to be deaths. Now, for the crackpot ideas: None of the victims are from the US. Wrong to think (actually, the RnR coaster was from Kentucky, but his father just came back from Iraq), but completely true. Second, I was there after one of the Mission: SPACE deaths, it was awesome. Why? No lines. Again, wrong to think about, but completely correct. Now, for my last idea; the DDL. Disney Death Lotto. You play it like roulette, betting on date, or ride, or both. $1 a ticket.

Podtacular

www.podtacular.com Go there! Well, let me explain this. I am a minor, who likes GTA. The punchline is, I'm all for legislation on videogames. Now, before you call Dr. Phil, talking about my insanity, hear me out. But calling Montel is okay (actually it isn't). I think that videogames should have a content rating system like movies (cannot purchase M or AO games with out an adult, yada, yada, yada) now, you might say, now what about the ESRB? The system doesn't work. And as our resident Hitler, Doug Lownstein (lol) said, these issues will go away, like how each older generation resents the younger generation's medium. We have:
Movies
Music
Hippies
Drugs (this hasn't gone away yet)
Sex/STD's (that will never be resolved as long as we have animalian instincts)
Now the poor video game.
Not to say Jack Thomson is wrong, I'm just saying he's a media whore. Not to say that he should be disbarred for that, he just jumps on any negative press he can find, then he will exploit it, and I have to suffer for it. I also think that these burdens should not be but on the publishers or developers, but parents. They have to know what GTA stands for, and it's not Good Time Amish. My parents understand the ESRB (partially because I explained it to them), but they are fairly techologically advanced. I once read a study that says that 80% of adults DO NOT understand the ESRB, or even know that it exists. To end this, the Hot Coffee mod should not be given to Rockstar, the guy who modded it should have been sued. You have to go through hoops to get to it, and it violates Rocktar's TOS (plus, it even isn't that graphic). Also, when I said I liked GTA, I like the great story, voice acting, and freeform missions, not destroying Los Santos. I just think there should be legislation on people who exploit hte media, not on the ones who are being exploited.

My King Kong Review / Synopsis

Okay, so I've seen the new King Kong twice now, and I have to say, it's pretty good. In this review I won't really try hard not to divulge secrets of the movie, being that most of the free world knows the ending (Kong dies!!! Sue me. On second thought, don't).

First of all, you need to realize, before you see King Kong, it's three hours seven minutes long, which is (insert speed [the refrence to time, not the drug] based joke here), or in other words, REALLY FREAKIN LONG!!! So, to make this review / synopsis not so extremely long, I've divided it into three parts

1: Great Depression New York / The Venture
This is the real exposition of the movie, and explores many of the main characters. The movie starts in the perspective of a vaudeville performer named Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts) . Her theater just closed down, and it is revealed at her last show that she is a fan of the playwright Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody). She is asking the director of Driscoll's latest play, but it is already cast, the director gives her a referral to a jop of a Burlesque club. Then, Carl Denham (Jack Black) is introduced, a movie producer who is obsessed with making a movie, and is presented with many challenges, including his leading lady leaving because his assistant Preston (Colin Hanks) revealed that they were going to a mysterious island. Carl hgires Ann for the role, and they ship off, hurried, because Carl was warranted for arrest for stealing the money to hire the ship. Over the journey, everyone finds out what is happening, and where they are going. The ship soon runs aground on Skull Island. When they get on the island, they are attacked by natives, to be saved by Captain Englehorn (Thomas Kretschmann). When they get back to the boat, Ann is kidnapped, and everyone goes back to the island to save Ann. End of hour one. Whoa.

2: The Island
At this point, Ann is being sacrificed to Kong. He takes her, and then the cavalry comes in, killing all the natives. Everyone then goes to search for Ann. They go through a lot, stop for a break, Carl instigates a dinosaur rampage, killing four people. Around this point, Carl is really acting like a scumbag. When Kong takes Ann back to his abode for dinner, Ann partly escapes to one of Kong's other homes. There, Kong falls in love with Ann when Ann starts doing performances, but throws a tantrum when Ann stops, and runs away. Ann then leaves. Then everyone is on a log, when Kong comes, the first mate, Mr. Hayes (Evan Parke) sacrafices himself to let everyone through, making Jimmy (Jamie Bell, who I think, in this movie, looks like the guy from Fall Out Boy) distraught, Hayes was his mentor. Kong pushes the log that everyone is on into a chasm, almost killing everyone who isn't dead already. Ann gets attacked by dinosaurs, when Kong takes on three of them at once. Trapeeze of Death! You have to see the movie to understand that. Once they die, Kong takes Ann to a secret meditation place where they fall asleep, after Ann teaches Kong about beauty, referring to the sunset. In the chasm, eveyone is attacked by giant bugs, and the only survivors are Carl, Jack, and Jimmy. Suddenly, the Captain and the star of the movie, Bruce Baxter (Kyle Chandler) and let them escape. Jack does not go back to the ship, and goes to find Ann. Carl secretly convinces the Captain to capure Kong. Jack makes it to Kong and Ann, and they almost escape when Kong wakes up and totally freaks out, waking up bats that were lying in wait. Kong fights the bats, and Jack and Ann escape an a bat wing, Kong pursues. When they get to the isle shore, the crew tries to stun Kong with chloroform, while Ann struggles, making Kong madder. They do capture Kong though, and bring him to New York

3: New York
When this opens, Kong is the hottest show in town. Everyone's there. Kong eventually freaks out (again) by giving them a fake Ann instead of the real one. He destroys the theater, when Jack draws him off. A chase ensues. When Kong knocks Jack unconscious, Ann comes, and they run away into Central Park, and are then attacked by the army. Kong, with Ann in tow, climbs up the Empire State Building and stays there with Ann until morning. Kong is then attacked by six planes. He loses, died, and Carl says, that it wasn't the airplanes, that "It was the beauty that killed the beast." The end.

Final:
Okay. If you like Peter Jackson/Action/Adrien Brody/Naomi Watts/Monkeys (id est everyone, except Jack Thomson, don't get me started), then watch this movie. Or in other words, every human being should see this.

Whelmed, Part II

Well, I'm watching Dick Clark's "Rockin' New Year's Eve '06" on ABC right now, and I have some more underwhelment. Green Day was just on. Now you might say, "So? You like Green Day. What's the problem?" You might also say, "okay" and stop. But what you might not realize is that is pre-recorded footage from their European Bullet in a Bible tour. Yes, the band wasn't even in America, and it came out a while ago. But still, its Green Day, and they're cool. Again, though, Ryan Seacrest is there and I'm not. Seriously, who likes him? Actually, underwhelmed. If you watch the Disney Christmas Parade here on the east coast, there is a Lion King-like performance going on. Its crummy. Regis sounds like he has a horrible cold (he always does) and Kelly looks like a zombie on drugs, with only half the emotion. Plus, in Orlando, the parade isn't even televised, because there was a riot at town hall after it was canceled. <sarcasm> But magically, 30 seconds later, it cleared up and the parade went on, with none of the people that were there! How wonderful! </sarcasm> But it was pouring out there, and we were really cold. But still. To add insult to injury, Ryan Seacrest was at the parade. He is a reincarnation of evil itself! Sorry, Satan, that was an insult, he IS evil. Oh, by the way, I got Mario Kart DS and an iHome. I also got an easy button. You know, from Staples. Pretty much. Also, this week or two, I'll have some of my vids on Google Video. When they get up, I'll post a link here. Now you might wonder, when you watch the movies, where are D1, D2, and D5? Well, I started with D3 as a joke, and I never really made 1 or 2. 5, though, I did make, but half of the actors (read: two) do not want anyone else to see it. Though I talked to them, and we might redo them, but better, and with a new guy, Ethan. Me.

Right now I'm annoyed. On the east coast, on ABC 7, there should be My Name is Earl on. Why isn't it? "The Biggest Loser" 2-hour finale. Now this might anger some of you, but who wants to watch a bunch of people at a gym, which I was told to go to by YFM (read the comments for "Google Analytics") but I don't want to do that. I want to feel "sophisticilicated" (made-up Bushism) and watch Earl. I just need to cool off. Also, I'm under a tornado watch, and so is most of the rest of the Baltimore/D.C. area. I love storms. They are really fun to watch. I hear from my classmate (from Alabama) and my brother (residing in Florida) that bad storms here are nothing compared to the south. I got a taste of that when I went down to Disney in July. Storms down there are incredible. Just an awesome force of nature. UPDATE: To add insult to injury, there is also NO Boston Legal tonight with William (did you say Cling-On?[sic]) Shatner. In place is "The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2005". This year alone, I've been there 3 times this year)

Hi, Folks!

This is the blog of Daniel Manning.
